Beyond the Street by Mengyi Fan & Marc Moukarzel
Columbia GSAPP students Mengyi Fan and Marc Moukarzel looked at increasing densification and land values in NYC, in particular the Tribeca area. Their system of stacking ‘streets’ above the existing city grid would allow businesses like tech startups to flourish and increase urban space. Different street typologies would create a layered experience that focuses on verticality and cross-circulation.
This project is part of Experiments in Motion - a partnership between Columbia Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation and Audi of America.
